Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make history, and not only on the football field.
This year, the Portuguese superstar became the first active athlete whose total career earnings exceeded two billion dollars.
His income will increase further until the end of the season, and among the athletes with the highest total earnings are Tiger Woods, Lionel Messi and LeBron James.
According to Forbes’ calculation, total income includes salaries, prize money, sponsorship contracts and other business income earned during the career.
Right behind Ronaldo are Tiger Woods and Lionel Messi, whose total earnings are estimated at approximately 1.77 and 1.68 billion euros, respectively.
Woods, although injuries have limited his appearances on the golf course in recent years, continues to generate huge incomes outside of the sport. His sponsorship contracts and business engagements bring him tens of millions of euros a year.
Messi also continues his professional career, and estimates indicate that he could further increase his total earnings in the next year and approach a new big financial record.
The fourth place on this list is occupied by LeBron James, whose total earnings during his career are estimated at around 1.51 billion euros.
Ronaldo thus continues to confirm his status as one of the most successful athletes even off the field, thanks to a combination of football contracts, sponsorships and numerous business projects.
