Learning is a human and social endeavour. MOE schools must continue to be the space for social interactions and help students develop 21st Century Competencies alongside human qualities such as empathy, sense of community and moral courage.

As AI transforms the world, it becomes even more important that students develop competencies, dispositions and skills to thrive in an AI-transformed world. While learning and development will always remain central to all we do, we must also be intentional in nurturing sound values, a sense of agency, and the ability to identify problems worth solving. Even as AI changes how students live and learn and fundamentally transforms education as we know it, students must continue to have opportunities to struggle productively, experience failure and work with others.

MOE is committed that AI in education:

  • Must benefit students’ learning and development
  • Is purposeful and intentional
  • Is age- and developmentally appropriate, safe, and responsible
  • Is grounded in the Singapore Teaching Practice and guided by MOE’s e-Pedagogy

To do this, MOE’s position on AI Use in Education and Assessment guides the use of AI in schools.
