The Kerala government has launched the IT Parks Affiliation Scheme and the Tech Keralam brand to bring companies, co-working spaces, and private technology infrastructure into a unified state-level technology ecosystem, focusing on emerging technologies and job creation.

Unveiling the new initiatives, Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said the government would prioritise developing various technology sectors by providing funding support.

“Keralam has a strong foundation of IT parks and educated youth who can readily adapt to new technologies. What is required is to provide them with the necessary hand-holding and help them upgrade their technological skills,” he said.

The government is giving top priority to adopting and developing emerging technologies to create greater opportunities for young people, he added.

Tech Keralam aims to attract global investments

Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Department of IT, AI and Future Technologies, said Tech Keralam represented a broader vision than conventional IT promotion. It seeks to bring technology companies, startups, research institutions, universities, infrastructure developers, investors and industry partners together under a connected ecosystem.

“We have identified strategic sectors for attracting global capability centres. Our ambition is to attract more investments, build globally competitive industries and create large-scale, high-quality employment in the State,” he said.

Kerala State IT Mission to be transformed

As part of the institutional restructuring to support this vision, the Kerala State IT Mission will be transformed into the Kerala State Digital Technology Mission to drive technology adoption programmes, with a focus on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, Rao said.

New corporation to coordinate ecosystem development

The government is also establishing The Future Corporation, which the Cabinet has granted in-principle approval for. The proposed institution will coordinate ecosystem development, promote Kerala globally, attract and facilitate investments, and foster strategic collaborations, he added.
