Cadet Kinsley Kistner of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will travel with the Hokies this week to receive the colors as they face Southern Methodist University on Friday. The pregame ceremony continues a longtime tradition uniting Virginia Tech Football and the Corps of Cadets.

Kistner is a member of the corps’ Citizen-Leader Track. A criminology major in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences from Chesterfield, Virginia, she was selected for flag cadet duty for her outstanding leadership and dedication to unit morale. Kistner plays a pivotal role in operational planning for unit events and leads initiatives to recognize cadets who make a difference in her battalion. She is also dedicated to advancing her U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary qualifications, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to personal growth and service.

While first-year cadets are chosen to receive flags during home games, upperclass cadets are selected to represent the corps at away games based on exceptional performance. Kistner will receive the American flag during pregame ceremonies from one of three football players selected to enter the field carrying the American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag for their standout performance in practice and games.
