Elma Aveiro, sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, strongly criticized Portugal following her brother’s decision to leave the national team gathering on Wednesday. In a message posted on Instagram, she notably condemned the lack of respect towards the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and pointed out the structure of the national team as well as the media treatment of the player.
Elma Aveiro was quick to respond to Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the Portuguese national team gathering. In a post on Instagram, she stated that her brother deserved more respect and that the national team needed better organization. “ CR7 deserved more respect. The national team deserved a better structure ,” she wrote.
The sister of the Al-Nassr striker also criticized the way the information was handled by the Portuguese media. “Portuguese journalism deserved more competence and less speculation,” she added. Elma Aveiro then expressed particularly harsh views towards the Portuguese, stating: “As for the Portuguese, well… they do not deserve to be the best at anything. We are envious, contemptuous, and ignorant.” Cristiano Ronaldo has since returned to Madrid after leaving the national team camp. The Portuguese captain will not participate in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Denmark and Norway.
