At the Extraordinary General Assembly of the League, which took place this Monday, at the Arena da Liga Portugal, in Porto, the distribution key for revenue from the centralized commercialization of audiovisual rights for the 1st and 2nd League, presented by Liga Centralização, was approved, with 80 percent of the votes in favor of the 33 sports societies.
After the end of the meeting, in statements to journalists, Reinaldo Teixeira revealed that there were three formations from the main echelon who voted against the proposal, joined by four more from the second division, and the vote was secret.
“The distribution key is the result of a long study and dialogue with all Sports Societies, with equity, meritocracy, sporting transparency, strategic alignment and sustained valorization of professional competitions as structuring principles. Its approval represents a historic milestone in the process of centralizing audiovisual rights in Portugal, completing a fundamental stage of a transformative project for the future of professional football”, the organization wrote in a statement.
“The model now approved was designed to respond to the challenges and objectives of the first cycle of centralized marketing, promoting the behaviors and incentives considered most appropriate for the current phase of implementation. In this context, the distribution key should be subject to evaluation and discussion in each new cycle, following the evolution of the market, competitions and strategic needs of the sector”, he adds.

Remember that on the table was an alternative proposal to the model presented by the organization, presented by Nacional, which did not move forward, since the appeal presented by the islanders for it to be voted on only had the support of the emblem itself. The entry into force of the new model for centralized commercialization of television rights is scheduled for 2027/28.
According to the approved distribution key, in the top tier, the distribution of funds will be defined by five criteria and the largest share is linked to sporting success, as 57.5% of the amount will be allocated depending on the final position in the championship, the classification history and the contribution to the UEFA ranking. There will also be 20% divided between the clubs in equal parts, while the other criteria include in smaller portions the average attendance at stadiums and TV audiences (17.5%), the conditions provided for broadcasts (around 3%) and the quality of the pitches, lighting and conditions for media work (2%).
