Independent Australia needs your help to survive!

Because, despite being Australia’s second oldest (founded in 2010) and best online news outlet, unlike our competitors, we’re not rich.

This poor yet popular publication is vital for Australia’s democracy, shining a light on some of Australia’s worst crimes and cases of corruption. And often being attacked for doing so.

Now, IA is exposing the biggest story of our time — the dangers of AI and Big Tech trickery.

BRAVE IA BREAKS AI FAKES

In yet another groundbreaking scoopearlier this year Independent AAustralia exposed a massive scam in which AI-doctored images were used in fake ABC news stories involving One Nation leader Pauline Hanson, which Meta was being paid to promote.

In these made-up news stories, Hanson was shown getting the better of Australian PM Anthony Albanese, along with other major figures — which never happened. These stories were selectively placed in feeds to help build support for One Nation, which subsequently surged in the polls.

But despite bringing our forensic research to Meta under its fake news reporting process, it did nothing. This reporting process was implemented after Facebook admitted its role in the shocking 2016 U.S. Presidential Election scandal.

Meta told us our undeniable evidence was “inconclusive”. In other words, it allowed fabricated stories, for which it was being paid, stay online to continue to dupe Australians.

This was the first time Facebook’s much-vaunted fake news reporting process had been exposed as a sham. This was eventually picked up by the mainstream media, but whether it would ever have been without IA is far from clear.

The misuse of AI is not only promoting false information as fact, it is also threatening everyone’s jobs and, many experts fear, even posing a very real threat to mankind. Even without Meta creating alternate realities – such as Trump and Hanson’s fictitious achievements – this is a time of global conflict, social division and alarming uncertainty.

Access to the truth has never been more vital.

Even if you can’t afford to donate or subscribe to IAyou can really help by sharing this with your friends.

TRUTH IS POWER, LIES ARE OPPRESSION

We know that budgets are being stretched to the limit. Ours is the same. Without any wealthy donors or big corporations backing us and against constant attacks, we have stood up against corruption for nearly two decades. Each week, we still somehow manage to pay our team of journalists and experts, and against all the odds, present the facts and speak truth to power.

And what’s more, we don’t receive any government subsidies, unlike most of the mainstream media, who are already rich and don’t need more of your money.

We give you bang for your buck. Even with our modest means, we are still here — because of your support.

We need to raise $75,000. Without it, IA may not make it to 17. And that would be a tragedy.

SUPPORT IA — NOT AI
