Harry Kane, the English forward for Bayern Munich and the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner, continues his pursuit of records in the UEFA Champions League, as he is close to equalling one of the remarkable achievements of Cristiano Ronaldo, the legend of Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Harry Kane needs to score against Atlético to equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring in 11 consecutive UEFA Champions League matches, a feat achieved by the Portuguese star during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons. The English striker currently has a streak of 10 consecutive matches in which he has scored 13 goals, starting in the last edition of the tournament, before continuing to find the net in the first three matches of the current season against Bodo/Glimt, Viking, and Arsenal.

Harry Kane is not only chasing this number, as he could also approach Ronaldo’s achievement of scoring the most goals in a single edition of the tournament. The Portuguese scored 15 goals in the 2017-2018 edition, while Kane has a personal record of 14 goals in the 2025-2026 edition, having scored 4 goals in 3 matches so far in the current edition. Statistical forecasts suggest he could reach 20 goals if he maintains his current scoring rate, with Bayern Munich continuing to compete until the Final.

Harry Kane has indeed matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s best goal tally in a single season with clubs, having scored 61 goals in all competitions for Bayern Munich during the 2025-2026 season, the same tally Ronaldo achieved with Real Madrid in the 2014-2015 season. However, the English striker surpassed Ronaldo in terms of goals-per-game ratio, having scored his goals in 51 matches compared to the Portuguese star’s 54 matches.

Harry Kane surpasses Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of speed to reach 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League, having needed only 66 matches, the same number as Lionel Messi, compared to Ronaldo’s 91 matches. The Bayern Munich striker has reached a tally of 73 goals in the competition, while he has scored 36 goals in 40 matches since turning 30, compared to Ronaldo’s 68 goals in 74 matches and Messi’s 35 goals in 48 matches.

Harry Kane currently leads Cristiano Ronaldo in the overall scoring rate in the UEFA Champions League, having scored 73 goals in 58 matches at an average of 0.795 goals per match, compared to the Portuguese star’s 140 goals in 183 matches at an average of 0.765. However, Ronaldo still holds the record for the most goals in the history of the competition and has a significant advantage in scoring at least 100 goals with the most clubs, having achieved this with four different clubs: Real Madrid, Manchester United, Al-Nassr, and Juventus, compared to just two for Kane: Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

According to current calculations, Harry Kane needs 103 additional matches in the UEFA Champions League to reach Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of 140 goals, if he maintains his current scoring rate. This means he would need nearly six more seasons after this one, reaching the Final in each.
